The Jefferson Memorial (formally, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial) is a
United States Presidential Memorial in Washington D.C. for Thomas
Jefferson. It combines a low neo-classical saucer dome with a portico. By
1930, there were monuments in Washington D.C. commorating great U.S.
Presidents. President Franklin D. Roosevelt thought that Thomas Jefferson
also deserved a monument. On June 26, 1934, following his initiative,
Congress passed a resolution to create a monument commemorating
Jefferson. The Jefferson Memorial bears some resemblance to the
Pantheon of Rome. These crystal miniatures are detailed with 22K gold
plating and measures 3 x 2.5 x 1 inches.
